Top 5 Incredible Benefits of Optimism.

.

How-I-view-my-Government

.

So there’s half a glass of water in front of you. Is it half full or half empty? I hope it’s the former because believe it or not, researchers have found that optimism is a universal phenomenon that can promote many benefits to a person’s life. Yep.

According to a study conducted by the University of Kansas, researchers found in the Gallup World Poll from 142 countries that despite difficult times, most people are optimistic and see a brighter outlook to their future. They also discovered that between these countries, it didn’t matter how much income one was earning as optimism prevailed in most of these people’s mind.

Now the good news is this positive outlook has a greater impact on a person’s life. Many scientists have discovered that optimists just have it better than others. From living longer to decreased heart disease to finding it easier to handle stress, here’s five cool benefits of being an optimist you need to know:

1. Optimism reduces stress

The power of positive thinking has proven to keep a person less stressed in tough situations. Why? Well think of it this way, you’re stuck in something tough – but the optimistic you knows there’s always a way to make it better. Unlike a pessimist, people with this positive trait have put their mindset that “everything will eventually get better”, therefore they automatically become less stressed because they know for every difficult times there’s always a solution to it. Simple!

2. Optimism increases lifespan

You don’t need to drink the fountain of youth to live forever. Science has proven that optimistic people have proven to live a longer life. According to a study from the University of Pittsburg, they found during an eight year period of analyzing 100,000 female patients in their local hospital that patients who were optimists were less likely to die from all causes than those who were cynics. So all it takes is a mindset change and you could increase your lifespan. Marvellous!

3. Optimism decreases health risks

While most doctors would advise those with heart diseases to find ways to reduce stress, did you know optimistic people are generally better at caring for their hearts? Research from the University of Michigan as well as Harvard University discovered that optimism among people above the age of 50 significantly reduced their risk of heart failure. In contrast with the least optimistic people in the study, these positive thinkers reduced their risk of heart failure over the follow-up period by 73 percent. Yup! So if you’re prone to heart disease, my suggestion is to start joining the optimistic wagon.

4. Optimistic people have better relationships

Love and happiness are two contagious feelings that go hand in hand. Now try putting two optimistic people in a romantic relationship and you’d see that you’d rather see this union flourish than a pessimistic pairing. In fact, this theory was tested at the University of Oregon, where researchers found that even with one optimistic person in the relationship, happiness between the couple were better than to have no positive thinker at all. So if you yourself are a pessimist by nature, consider dating an optimistic person and see how that turns out for your relationship!

5. Optimism makes one more successful

Ever wonder how some people are just way more successful at getting the jobs that they want? Well, I can bet you that most of them are optimists by nature. Quite recently researchers from Duke University had monitored a group of MBA graduates who were about to enter the workforce and what they found was amazing – those who had a high outlook that they would get a job received offers than those who didn’t. They also found that because these optimists had better outlooks in their career they were more likely to earn higher starting salaries and get promoted more frequently. Pretty cool huh?

Therefore, I rest my case. The optimistic way of life has it’s amazing benefits. Now the question is, are you part of this mindset?

TEACH YOUR CHILDREN – Explain to your children that it is very important not to stay down when life knock them down.

.

affirmationflower

Explain to your children that it is very important not to stay down when life knock them down. It is important for your children to understand that life is not fair and that they on many occasions will be forced to get up off the floor. Explain that some of the blows they will take will be executed by friends, family and even strangers. It will be foolish to create the false impression that everything will work out ok if they just do the right thing. The main reason why many students fail can be traced back to a lack of stamina and will power. Nothing worthwhile will simply fall in their lap. They will often need to work hard and smart before their goals becomes a reality. There is a saying, “Quitters never win and winners never quit”. Show your children examples of individuals that stood up that continued walking notwithstanding the setbacks that crossed their path.

Explain to your children that it is often necessary to change direction or find a new way or formula to achieve a desired goal. It will be silly to invest energy in a project or objective if the current recipe continues to fails and make the grade. We live in a universe that is filled to the brim with choices and options. There is always a plan B or C if we get up and look for solutions. Most people are experts on failure. They can find an endless list of reasons why stuff will never work out as expected. They are so busy identifying potential problems that solutions in plain view escape their attention. Nobody ever succeeded without fighting serious obstacles. The key is courage and the simple act of standing up as many times as it might take.

PARENTS

Many parents are over-protective. They jump in and solve their child’s problem the moment they notice a potential setback. How will your child learn, grow and become self-sufficient if you play the hero every time he/she runs into a challenge. Be there for your child. Protect your child, but guide your child through setbacks. Don’t take over and create the impression that he/she are useless. Praise your child when they achieve success. Congratulate your child when they have minor victories.

It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, healthy or sick, you only have 24 hours a day – try to use it wisely.

.

Time is the most precious value we have. Time is the greatest equalizer of human beings. If we don’t treat time with respect then we will only have to lose. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, healthy or sick, you only have 24 hours a day either way, and you should try to use it wisely.

Most of the times, we waste our time and energy worrying and thinking about things like how to win more money and how to leave a better life. Well, when we do this we usually forget about the most important think – the time to live our life in. A wise man will always tell you: “You can always make more money, but you can never buy more time”.

How many times are we aware of the ways we invest our time? And the word “investment” is the most accurate because the way we choose to spend our time is a true investment in ourselves and our own lives. And you will never find the true value of time in the way people around you act and talk.

People usually spend time for hours in front of the TV, or they spent a lot of time browsing the net with no purpose whatsoever. Some of us even try to steal more time with the cost of many healthy sleep hours. If you wake up earlier in the morning just to smoke a few cigarettes and to fill your self up with coffee so you won’t feel sleepy it doesn’t mean you won quality time. Also, inefficient work or spending more hours at work that you have to is equal to borrowing your life to someone else.

Everyone always says things like: “ I’m just counting the hours to go home” or “I wish it were Friday” on a Monday and so on. These are just signs that those persons usually waste their time. If you organize our time efficiently and if you choose to do only activities that motivate us somehow, then we will find ourselves able to work everyday without feeling tired or sleepy.

At any moment that you just let time pass by you think about what Romans said: ”Carpe Diem” – it has a great meaning for our everyday life, it means “Live the day” or better said “Organize your day”. Make more time to analyze the way you invest or waste your time. And never forget that you can’t tell anything about tomorrow so “Carpe Diem!”

Give others the benefit of doubt. Allow people to make mistakes and admit to them.

.

Funk & Wagnalls Standard Desk Dictionary – definition of the word, trust as (trust) n. A confidence in the reliability of persons or things without careful investigation.

Trust is something that we strive for in our relationships with people and in certain things. Trust gives us a feeling of comfort and security when we express feelings and concerns about our situations. It starts out as a child; we know nothing other than to trust our parents or guardians to keep us happy, fed, cuddled and safe from the “BoogeyMan.”

While growing up, we never consider the thought of losing trust in our friends and family members as they are the ones’ who we have spent many hours of building fond memories; ones that will carry us into our adult years, giving us so much to share with our children.

Being trustworthy is a positive characteristic that should be worn as a badge of honor. It is good to know that you can be trusted. It is good to know that you can trust another.

We live our lives giving and accepting trustworthy advice from not only our friends and family but from other people such as our doctors, bankers, educators and even our repairmen hoping for the most honest opinion and correct information regarding our circumstances and well being.

It is also something that truly has to start from within; know that you can be a good friend or advice giver to someone who is in need. Give unconditionally, your time and effort without it being confused with naivety.

Speak less of what you may not know about. Be a good listener.

When you are involved in a situation that may be good, bad or indifferent, be aware of what you say and to whom you say it to. Your words can be misconstrued and turned into a realm of lies and deceit.

But when that level of trust is cut down by a person or state of affairs, we are then given a reason to lower our expectations, cause doubt, build walls and blur our vision of the things that really matter. It has been said that there is a reason for everything. And a few of the reasons that someone will do something to another is because of hidden resentment, false pride, fear, greed, selfishness and lack of confidence in that person, situation or themselves.

Give others the benefit of doubt.

Allow people to make mistakes and admit to them. It is the one who does not admit to their poor actions and who falsely accuse others of the things they know they have done, that need to be condemned. And for that they can not be trusted.

There is always more than one side to a story and out of the two there is definitely one that is the truth.

There are times that a person or situation may cause you to lose trust if so, before it destroys a good thing, hear what has to be said, listen with your heart and mind and if you are involved in any way, accept your position without conviction. Be accountable for your actions. Never deny your involvement. Say what you need to say. Getting things out in the open, will hopefully keep the right doors open for healthy relations with others. It is a matter of trust.

Have faith that all will be reconciled. Move on and if not, one thing is for sure, as we live our lives and deal with people and circumstances there are things that are going to happen that may cause us hardship and despair, work it out for the better or worse. It truly can or may not be as bad as it seems, if so try to accept that “Pobodys’ Nerfect” (Nobodys’ Perfect, even so) remember that as we continue to develop relationships with people, trust your personal thoughts, words and decisions. No one person has control over the responsibilities of another.

Trust, it is the one thing that develops over time but takes a minute to destroy.

Pay it forward.

Whatever circumstances we have in life, we are still the one controlling its outcome.

.

There are times in our life, that we may feel we are left alone and being pushed hard by whatever circumstances in life. For some, they use this moment to make them stronger, wiser and better person. But for some, they didn’t fight back. They just accept the reality and concede on the great defeat. These are the people who will not be successful in life. Success is a series of failures that we need to overcome every time and emerged victorious in the end.

There are rich people and there are poor people. Some are born healthy, some are born with defects. Some are lucky, some are so unlucky. This is life, and we cannot change it. All we can do is accept the fact that life is unfair, and move on. No one can ever guarantee for a fair result in life. Instead of complaining, try to use this opportunity to improve yourself and make use of the hardship and difficulties to propel you to achieve greater purpose in life. We may be born poor, but we all have the opportunities to be successful and become rich in life.

Helen Keller was blind and deaf, and yet she emerged as one of the best author in our history. Her life didn’t stop when she loses her senses, but instead, it motivates her to do things that normal people can do and she did best.

Whitney Houston was once a famous singer of our time. People around the world adore her and taught that she has everything and very successful in life. And yet, where she is now? After her fame, she became addicted to drugs and involved in several illegal activities. She is just another example of a person whom we thought are successful.

I grew up without my parents to guide me on my side. Trials, difficulties and problems are my constant companion before. And yet, I fought back and use these misfortunes to become what I am today. Same thing happen to my friend. Now he was addicted to illegal drugs and a drop out from school. Lots of people have the same fate, because they accept defeat early in life. They are just contented in saying that life is unfair, and circumstance makes them what they are today.

Whatever circumstances we have in life, we are still the one controlling its outcome. It is still up to us to lead our life to where we want us to be. Blaming the circumstances and use it to justify our present condition will not help. It will only hinder us to move forward and continue to live our life. Trials and difficulties will always be there to set us off course, but we can handle it if we really have the right attitude in life.

So instead of complaining about life being unfair, move on and make the use out of it.
