The skeptic cannot detect much through his cloud of judgments/perceptions.

My grandfather looked at me while a smile slowly began to form on his weather beaten face. “You ask deep questions for your age, he said”. He then shared the following words of wisdom with me that took years to make its way through my already strongly conditioned and fortified mind.

We need to experience life with an open mind while we retain the ability to remain objective. The skeptic cannot detect much through his cloud of judgements and perceptions. Most of us have been suffering with tunnel vision from early childhood. There is a filter system in our minds that repel everything that fail to support our entrenched belief systems.

We at a very young age began living our lives in auto mode. We became dispensers that daily churn out our standard reaction patterns. We have millions of stock answers and reactions on virtually everything that we encounter while on our journey through life. We become absent teachers, parents, managers and partners. Most of us are not “now” focused and fail to handle each given moment on merit. We are mentally far away thinking of the past or speculating or predicting the potential future. It is impossible to remain composed and objective while our current moments are contaminated by past memories or speculative future predictions.

The amazing thing is that we recall our historical feelings of pleasure or pain that we experienced under perceived similar circumstances and attached them to the moment at hand. Can you see how it is virtually impossible to remain objective, calm and in control while you blend historical images and feelings with the current event or situation that you need to deal with?

The problem with this affliction is that we tend to almost never deal with anything or anyone in the moment. Our habit of auto living rob us of so much joy and opportunities. Our mind is so stuck in yesterday or what might happen tomorrow that our current moments slip by almost unnoticed. We often make poor choices because we attempt to deal with the now with often outdated or false perceptions. Out of place or warped mental perceptions from the past are the main reason for our inability to identify what we are really dealing with that is right in front of us.

We stumble over treasures and opportunities without even noticing them. We hardly notice some amazing people that cross our path because we are so obsessed with our own stories. We fail to deal with potential problems and opportunities in an objective manner. Our world that we see is tinted by the perceptions we hold. We tend to only notice people, events and problems that match the historical conclusions that we made. We experience a range of negative and destructive emotions when anything or anyone fails to please or threaten our ingrained belief system.

The only way to enjoy life is to focus on the current moment. We cannot deal with stuff while we are blending the reality of the moment with speculations and anticipations created while we were still a child. My grandfather paused for a moment to allow his words to sink in and then continued.

This is the main reason why it is said that each person live in his own world. I am sure you can see that everyone that lives from his perception base sees and experience life in his own unique manner. The alarming fact is that most of us are convinced that we are our perceptions and our history. We go through life convinced that we are our history, flaws, mistakes and achievements. Our perception base gradually takes on a life of its own. Society and religion used this tendency to control mankind since the beginning of time. Fear and guilt became powerful tools in the hands of those that yearned for control, power and prosperity. It is impossible to modify the fixed data base that gradually became who you think you are. All our good intentions usually soon fade to nothing. The threats and punishment of those in control politically and otherwise failed to date to successfully modify the avatars that mankind thought represents who they are.

My grandfather stared through the window for a while before he said, “You are not this avatar with its history that I explained earlier”. The overall perception you have of yourself is nothing more than the collective information stored in the subconscious archives of your mind.

The fact of the matter is that we are all part of consciousness. You came to this plane to firstly wake up to what I told you today and to understand that everything and everyone else is also part of this same consciousness. My grandfather paused for a moment and then explained that we are all one. We are on this plane to mature and to master the art of love. You will view others and the world from a different perspective when you understand this amazing fact. You will stop judging and opposing those that are still asleep in matrix of life. You will gradually notice the level of spiritual maturity that individuals mastered to date. Those still in a sleep like state will display primitive and obnoxious behaviour. The ability to display love, care and forgiveness is a sure sign that an individual made progress in his attempt to expand his consciousness.

My grandfather stood up and suggested that we check with my grandmother if she has some tea for us.
