I spoke to an endless number of very wise individuals over the years. I loved their amazing ability to identify potential solutions and patterns. What stunned me was that these individuals presented me with logical and brilliant solutions that never crossed my mind. It is imperative that you gather as much quality information on any subject matter at hand that needs clarification or explanation. I for example found that there is a large percentage of “students” of the Bible that will never dare to gather data from any source that might present them with information that contradict or fail to support their dogma. There are scientists and researchers that can do magic with graphs and charts. A slight change in focus or the ignoring of unacceptable data often provide the “proof” they are after. Global warming is a good example of how the various “schools of thought” produce graphs and charts that support their specific mindsets. My advice is that you look at any subject that you want to master or clarity from all the angles you can. Do not make up your mind until you studied all the data you gathered. Remain neutral and objective while you dissect the data gathered. The moment you look at any data through a specific filter you filter out stuff that could bring a very new and fresh perspective on the problem or task at hand. Researchers can often not dare to acknowledge or support alternative perspectives than those of the corporation that is funding their operation. The same goes for individuals that work for specific religious institutions. I have been in many debates in the sensitive field of religion. Respected individuals in society often turn into an out of control attack dog when you begin to point out stuff that is according to modern research based on myths, legends and sometimes deliberate misinformation. I avoid debates today. They serve no real purpose. You cannot force anyone to remove their filter system for a few moments and look at stuff in an objective manner. The person you debate is often in the service of a specific church and cannot admit or support anything that might jeopardise his ability to continue to put food on the table. The other element that prevents logical thinking is the FEAR FACTOR. Most individuals that you talk to regarding religious or spiritual matters are afraid that they might evoke some kind of punishment by God if they dare to look at anything outside the recommended dogma of their church. My friend it is imperative to become an impartial student with an open mind if you want to become wise. Gather data, as much as possible and then study this data in an objective manner. No progress is possible with the ogoing adjustment of your perspectives on anything or anyone.

The Power of Introverts: A Manifesto for Quiet Brilliance: Scientific American
Do you enjoy having time to yourself, but always feel a little guilty about it? Then Susan Cain’s “Quiet : The Power of Introverts” is for you. It’s part book, part manifesto. We live in a nation that values its extroverts – the outgoing, the lovers of crowds – but not the quiet types who change the world. She recently answered questions from Mind Matters editor Gareth Cook.
Cook: This may be a stupid question, but how do you define an introvert? How can somebody tell whether they are truly introverted or extroverted?
Cain: Not a stupid question at all! Introverts prefer quiet, minimally stimulating environments, while extroverts need higher levels of stimulation to feel their best. Stimulation comes in all forms – social stimulation, but also lights, noise, and so on. Introverts even salivate more than extroverts do if you place a drop of lemon juice on their tongues! So an introvert is more likely to enjoy a quiet glass of wine with a close friend than a loud, raucous party full of strangers.
There is misconception that many of us have. This fallacy is that we will become massively successful in our work, relationships and life in general if we pray or meditate hard enough. Some of us think that we can find success in books or peace of mind when we attend seminars. Then there are those that think that working long hours will assist them to make tons of money so they would ultimately become a manager or director in the company. We crave success in all areas of our lives. We want acknowledgement and recognition. We want our partner or fellow team members to respect us. We want to live an affluent life where we own our own palace and drive a fancy expensive car. In short we want security, predictability and recognition. We want all the above, but many fall short of these dreams and goals and gradually slip into a painful and fairly mediocre lifestyle. You might ask – What is causing most people to start life with tyres burning the tar on the highway of life only to slow down to a crawl later? I will attempt to give you the background below.
The main reason why many slow down to a crawl or finally grind to a standstill is their lack of confidence and drive. Many take a few hits early in life and often fail to recover. Many also allow their own perceptions of reality to smother their potential. We have so many dreams and fantasies when we are young. We believe that we can become president, a stinking rich author or a fire fighter, but soon discover that we often fall short of our own expectations and dreams in the arena of life. We begin to measure ourselves against the opinion that our teachers, family and friends have of us. We participate in athletics at school and come stone last. We get an “F” in some of the subjects that we are expected to study as school. We notice that there are many of our fellow students that are faster, stronger and better students than us. Our original dreams, goals and desires gradually fade into nothingness.
We soon while still very young develop perceptions about many things. Many of these perceptions that we form about life and ourselves are negative, warped and devoid of “truth”. It is our collective perception base that soon controls our lives and dictates to us who we are. These perceptions soon become our self-image and self-esteem. Our self-image and self-esteem becomes the filter in our lives that we use to observe life through. We begin to live and perform according to this mould in our heads. This is the invisible force that holds us at ransom, usually until the day we expire. We need to break this mould if we want to achieve the original hopes and dreams mentioned above.
Willpower
We all have a very potent system that governs how we react to life and how we address life with all its whims and surprises. The problem we have is that we apply our energy according to this perception base mentioned earlier. We automatically act and react to stimuli that we detect via our five senses. We thus do, say and act on things without thinking. We sustain the stuff we fear in this manner. We attempt to control things, people and events according to our collective perception base. This is the reason why so many of us lack courage, self-esteem and confidence. We never call time out for a moment and question our belief structure.
We do not apply our willpower in a constructive and positive manner. We in fact allow our perceptions to override our willpower. Many of us become spineless in our actions and reactions and allow the winds of life to blow us around like leafs. Brave individuals are not abnormal when they display courage. They also experience fear, worry and anxiety, but they understand that these emotions come from their perception base and might have nothing to do with the task at hand. They delay their actions or reaction fed to them by their perception software long enough so they can make an informed decision. Please read this again. You cannot grow, develop and achieve your hopes and dream or achieve a different outcome in your relationships or for that matter anything else until you stop duplicating your standard reactions patterns. You must take your power back. It must do the job that it is suppose to do. Your willpower must validate WHAT IS and investigate if your old historical perceptions and reactions will get the job done. You cannot imitate a photo copy machine and duplicate your previous days, weeks, months and even years and expect different outcomes.
How do you do this?
You learn to pause and first carefully investigate what you currently have in front of you. What you are faced with today might be light years removed from the old recipe that you used historically. You need to “pause” before you act or react. Do nothing and say nothing until you fully understand “what is” you are confronted with.
You will discover that you will suddenly become much more assertive, wise and brave. You will soon no longer be poisoned by your historical perceptions. It is more often than not, not what you are confronted with that discourage or floor you. It is the emotions, feelings and fears in your perception data base that is causing the flood of negative and destructive chemical that your brain release into your system. Your control centre automatically acts on the stimuli received from your perception data base because your “willpower” fell asleep at the job.
Try pausing for a while before you act and react and notice how much better you feel about yourself. You must use your willpower to your advantage. You must and can do amazing things when you take your power back. You will walk tall and never cringe in the face of adversity. You need to set goals and then use your willpower to achieve those goals. Your perception base might attempt to discourage you and force you back to the old way of doing things. All I am saying is that you need to honestly often ask yourself the following question. When you discover that you again become lazy, lethargic and passive ask yourself, “How is this working for me?” Stop using the old and outdate recipes and find something new. Nothing is going to change my friend. You are the one that must enforce changes in your life.
Whether or not you are a country music fan, these are truly the words of a deep thinker, and a highly intelligent person. So simple, yet so profound! Read the words of wisdom from that famous philosopher Willie Nelson, iconic country and western singer, on his 75th birthday below his esteemed portrait. Only a man with such wisdom and maturity could be so concise and succinct in phrasing his feelings at this turning point in his life.
Millions of people have witnessed this phenomenon, which is referred to as “Shadow People”. Some just shrug it off, thinking it’s no more than their imagination. Others truly believe that they saw a human-like shadow at a place where it shouldn’t have been. Sometimes, Shadow People are even seen by a person who is alone, while other times these strange shadows appear to be lurking within other shadows.
So what exactly are Shadow People? Are they some sort of spirt or ghost? Maybe a being from another dimension or realm? Do they represent some sort of vision? Or are they nothing more than just figments of our imagination? Whatever Shadow Peopleare, they are being reportedly witnessed everyday. In fact, Shadow People represent some of the most popular supernatural sightings in the world.
The most believed theory is that Shadow People are spirits with dense energy, like orbs and vortexes. Some photos show that orbs and vortexes do occasionally cast shadows. All though we can’t see orbs or vortexes with our naked eye, it’s believed we can sometimes see the shadows they cast. essentially, this theory explains that the Shadow People we actually see represents the energy of the spirit that we can’t see with our naked eyes.
Another theory is that we’re getting a glimpse into another dimension. Perhaps that dimension or realm blends in with ours a bit and what we’re seeing is the shadow of someone from the other dimension. If that’s the case, then can that person see us? Do we appear like a shadow to them? Many paranormal investigators are intrigued by this theory. Unfortunately though, there’s really no way to prove it.
When it comes to Shadow People, all we can do is theorize and speculate. Perhaps all explanations are equally valid. Maybe Shadow People don’t have just one origin. While they mostly appear to be “human” outlines, there are still some that are witnessed in different sizes and shapes. Unfortunately, they go away as quickly as they appear, so nobody ever really gets a good look at them. They are strange though. One good thing that can be said about Shadow People is that, for the most part, witnesses don’t report any feelings of negativity coming from them. Shadow People leave witnesses feeling strange, and maybe a bit uneasy, but hardly ever frightened. We can only hope that Shadow People aren’t evil or malevolent, whatever they may be.
Everyday you make a thousand choices. You choose what to wear, where to go, who to meet, what to eat and what to do. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL, YOU decide WHAT TO THINK. One thing is sure and that is that your day will not be better than your thoughts. ...................
Just close your eyes for a moment and see if you can visualise this open toolbox and if you can see the hundreds of tools that are neatly placed in this toolbox. Now look if you can see the maker’s name on these tools. The creator of these tools (thoughts and perceptions) is you. You created thousands of thoughts and perceptions (tools) about everything since your childhood. ..................
When confronted with any situation or problem you reach into this toolbox and take out what you think the most appropriate tool would be and then attempt to fix the problem. It is estimated that your mind thinks at least 2,500 thoughts an hour. Every thought that you think is a tool (perception) that you have that you imagine would work best under specific circumstances. This thought process continues day and night and will do so for the rest of your life. .....................................
I am convinced that we think ourselves to a standstill. We never stop playing with these tools in our toolbox and can hardly ever really relax for a while. If we are not faced with a problem or task that needs completion we still continue to take out these tools and mentally rehears and contemplate how we will use them should something that we fear become a reality. ............................
We are forever thinking and scheming and never become still and tranquil inside. Our bodies might seem relaxed, but deep inside our heads this thought process continues churning around. What I am most worried about is that most of the tools that you have in your toolbox are very old and outdated. .......................
Many of the opportunities, problems and obstructions that you face daily cannot be repaired while you are using old and outdated tools. If you take a modern mechanic’s toolbox and you place the toolbox of a mechanic of fifty years ago next to it you will find that there are major discrepancies. When you are confronted with something that needs repair and you do not have the right tool for the task at hand it can be very frustrating. We usually improvise and try using some other tools and hope that it will also get the job done. ........................
When you are faced with a problem you need to select the right tool for the task at hand. If you do not have the tool in your toolbox it can complicate your life. What most people seem to ignore is that it is sometimes better not to reach for your toolbox when faced with a problem. Sometimes you need time to pass or need to leave the problem with its rightful owner. How well you use your tools is usually reflected in the world you see around you. What would you do if you were faced with any or all of the following? .........................
You get a flat tire on your way to an important customer or meeting. You can fall apart, develop a migraine and think that life is against you or you can take out the right tools (patience and reality) and take care of the problem in a relaxed manner. ........................
You have been working on the computer for hours and suddenly lose all your work. You can drop dead with a heart attack; think that God hates you or you can take out the right tool (sanity and reality) and begin over and this time remember to make a backup of your work. ....................
A lover or wife possibly cheated on you. You can go crazy and get an assassin to take out the potential threat to your relationship, think that you are a failure or you can take out the right tool (no fear of loss) and get on with your life. .......................
When you have the right tools in your toolbox it makes life a lot easier. The choices we make are vital in our lives. The more quality choices we make during any given day the higher the probability of success and peace of mind. ................
I suggest that you equip your toolbox with the best tools you can lay your hands on. It is important to upgrade if you discover that one of your tools are outdated or that a more modern version is available. How would you react if your TV packed up and a technician that obviously knows very little about electronics arrived at your house with only a sledgehammer and a few other primitive tools in his toolbox? I am sure that you will send him away and find someone better qualified and equipped for the task. .....................
You might sometimes be like this incompetent and poorly equipped technician indicated above if you do not often update your tools (thoughts) in your toolbox. You can also have all the right tools in your toolbox and never use them because you are afraid that you might make a mistake. ..................
You must remember that happiness and success is always just one thought (tool) away. You should remember when you find it difficult to cope with something that one new tool (thought) could change your life. One fresh thought and one new idea can change your life from pain and suffering to success and peace of mind. ........................
You are today what you were programmed with yesterday. The choices that you make on a moment-to-moment basis decide your fate and future. You can never feel or perform better than the ongoing thoughts and feelings that you allow to occupy your mind! .......................
The mistake we make is that most of us live our lives on a reactive basis. We start and complete our day in a reactive state of being. Something comes to our attention via our five senses or via a thought in our mind. We automatically slip into the “role” that we created for ourselves many moons ago. We act, react and experience the same feelings and emotions that we embedded with our scrip at its inception. We do exactly the same when new stimuli push the previous “drama” off the stage in our minds. We sustain this reactive mode of thinking until we finally go to bed at night. Most of our days are made up of a tapestry of “roles” that we played in our own colorful way. It is important to understand that nothing is going to change until we do something different. We cannot repeat the same old recipes and expect a different outcome. ....................
You can use the “Portable Life Skills Wisdom” book to develop a range of appropriate scripts that you can use when you are faced with a problem or project that need your attention. You will if you apply the scripts in this book find that you no longer run your life on a reactive basis. The new scripts will help you to live your life in the moment. You will become more realistic. You will treat each event on its own merit. How do you do this? ......................
