The PAIN while we are going through DOWN periods can be a blessing in disguise.

The PAIN while we are going through DOWN periods can be a blessing in disguise. It is a known fact that we are strongly motivated by two factors in our lives. We automatically gravitate AWAY from potential PAIN and we are ATTRACTED by potential PLEASURE. It is our FEELINGS that direct most of the choices that we make in life. We more often than not follow the path of least resistance. We tend to slavishly obey one of the millions of mind movies that we gathered since our early childhood. We blindly act on the FEELINGS that are “packaged” together with every experience we acquired during our lifetime. We never STOP for a moment and question the validity of the feelings that we experience. We become like some kind of copy machine that daily copy everything that came before. This mindset stops all potential for GROWTH. It is often only when we go through serious emotional or physical PAIN that we WAKE UP to the REALITIES of life. It is often intense PAIN that is needed to force us to notice a “TRUTH” that we have been ignoring. We tend to see what we want to see and hear only what we want to hear while we are in this hypnotised state of mind. The PAIN ALARM fortunately wakes some of us up and forces us to ask, “Is there something that I have been ignoring in my relationships, work or any other area of my life?” It is only when we are outside the reach of the “spell” of a person or situation that we seem to notice things and people in their true perspective. Repeat the following as often as you can today. I will today become acutely aware of the role that PAIN plays in my life. Pain is my ALARM system to inform me that there is something that needs to be modified. You will be astounded how accurate this system is and how it guides you not only in the moments, but remind you that some of your historical perceptions (beliefs) might need updating.

SINCE BIRTH WE GRAVITATE TOWARD THINGS AND PEOPLE THAT ACTIVATE FEELINGS OF PLEASURE AND ACCEPTANCE IN US.

SINCE BIRTH WE GRAVITATE TOWARD THINGS AND PEOPLE THAT ACTIVATE FEELINGS OF PLEASURE AND ACCEPTANCE IN US. THE FLIP SIDE OF THE COIN IS THAT WE TEND TO MOVE AWAY FROM THINGS AND PEOPLE THAT ACTIVATE FEELINGS OF DISCOMFORT AND PAIN IN US!

The force that governs most things that you do or for that matter fail to do is hidden in the pain/pleasure-seeking device in your brain. There has been a tendency since birth to automatically move towards potential pleasure and away from potential pain. This primitive instinct forms an integral part of our survival mechanism.

When we study nature we see this law in action all the time. Animals and birds that ignore this important law usually do this at their own peril. You do not often see a kudu that attempts to befriend a lion or a mouse chatting up a cat. There is a primitive survival instinct that activates at birth that warns them of potential danger. No advanced survival courses are necessary for young animals and birds. An electro-chemical program on potential danger is activated in their brains even before they attempt to take their first tentative steps. They understand the importance of running away from potential pain (lion) even before the after-birth fluid dried on their skins. They also immediately understand that their survival is locked up in the milk (pleasure) of their mothers.

You can expose any dog to a snake and you will see that he immediately understands that this is a very serious emergency situation that he finds himself in. We as individuals do the same as well. We that live and survive in the jungle of life do however find it more difficult to identify the potential pain causing zones and people. We sometimes confuse a deadly predator (pain) with what we think is a friend (pleasure). We sometimes discover that the friend we trusted and loved so much was actually a well-disguised predator (pain).

I hope that you can see that we definitely have two zones at work in our lives. The one is pleasure producing and the other is a pain producing system. Everything we do or refrain from doing is governed by this polarized law.

I WILL ATTEMPT TO FOCUS ON AS MUCH PLEASURE PRODUCING ACTIVITIES AS POSSIBLE TODAY! I WILL ACT IN A MANNER THAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE FEEL NOURISHED WHEN THEY LEAVE ME!

The main reason why many relationships fall apart is because of poor communication. Every word we say or fail to utter will impact on the person that we are trying to communicate with. If we have a tendency to hide our feelings, we usually confuse the individuals that we attempt to communicate with.

We need to give visual and verbal “feedback” when we communicate with others. Only when you show and tell people what you feel or think (negative or positive) will they have a fair chance to understand what you need or want from them. They cannot act in a manner that will provide you pleasure if they never know where they stand with you.

You might feel that you are a victim (pain) of unfair family or friends while they simply do not know what you need or want. If you learn to express yourself clearly, tell people how you feel you immediately remove the barriers that you tend to create around you. Express your feelings negative (pain) or positive (pleasure) when you feel them. This will give the people that you communicate with a fair chance to remedy mistakes that you think they made. This will limit the perceived misunderstandings, wrong interpretations, and perceptions.

You will then always know where you stand with people and they will know where they stand with you. You cannot influence people in a positive manner if you fail to communicate in a clear and precise manner. Most people cannot or will not attempt to read your mind. Select your words with care. They either heal or cause pain in the process. Become pleasure focused and influence people in a positive manner.

You are the creator of your own successes and failures. The choices that you make will lead you toward or away from your goals and dreams.

To accomplish (1) great things we must not only act (2), but also dream (3), not only plan (4), but also believe (5).

Anatole France

The word accomplish is not always fully understood by people. The word (1) accomplish signifies to finish, complete or bring something to an end. You cannot claim that you accomplished your goal or objective if you do not bring something to a successful conclusion. Most people are excellent at starting things, but the real winners in life understand that without completion there is no reason to celebrate.

You might plant your seeds in the garden of life, but if you fail to follow through you will not reap the fruit of your labour. Everything that is worthwhile accomplishing starts with a dream (3). Most of the wonderful inventions you see around you today started with an idea in the head of someone. When the idea is transformed into a dream it is given the opportunity to materialize. Most people allow their ideas and dreams to die unceremoniously in their heads.

Most of the most brilliant inventions never got past the dream stage because their owners never acted (2) on their inspirations. The best books were never written because the potential authors could not summon up enough courage to write the first page. If you want to make your dreams a reality you need to think up a plan (4) to take it past the dream stage.

Only a few people get past their own negative self-talk. Most people do not have the courage and fortitude to take something through to a successful conclusion. Friends and family are excellent flaw finders, but usually do not have any plans of their own. Most of them resigned themselves to what they call their “fate” in life and know that they will remain just a face in the crowd of faceless mediocre people.

When you listen to the fainthearted you will become one of their clan. You will see danger and failure in every shadow. It takes courage and lots of faith in your ideas, dreams and plans if you want to take them through to a successful conclusion. You must believe (5) if you want to achieve. You must not allow negative thinkers to shoot down your plans and goals.

They say faith can move mountains. When you really believe in your mission you will overcome all obstacles that attempt to prevent you from achieving your objectives.

I WILL ACCOMPLISH ANY TASK THAT I FOCUS ON BECAUSE I AM DETERMINED AND MOTIVATED. I WILL PERSIST UNTIL MY DREAM BECOMES A REALITY!

You are the creator of your own successes and failures. The choices that you make will lead you toward or away from your goals and dreams. The cowards are afraid to act because they fear failure. The winners accept that failure is not a destination, but simply a part of the process. Nothing worthwhile was ever achieved without serious effort and painful failures. All that failure indicates to you is that you still need to make a few modifications to your plan. Failures expect their plans to work without a hitch and fall apart if the don’t. Winners expect setbacks and do not allow them to deflate their initial passion and commitment. Winners do not allow the negative comments of friends and enemies to dismantle their dreams and plans.

If you have been walking around for years with a good idea in your head, now may be a good time to activate some serious action to make it a reality. I do not claim that it will be easy or that all your dreams will become a reality, but why not give some of them your best shot? How would you feel if you read in a magazine or newspaper, that someone else made millions with a similar idea than the one you have allowed to hibernate in your mind?
